Studio Church

Help us create helpful content as you experience real community!

Tuesdays @ 7:30 pm
Meets at Emmanuel Studios
1775 Old Hwy 8 NW, New Brighton

What is Studio Church?

A studio is a place where beautiful things are created and shared. On Tuesday nights, we create Emmanuel’s Online Services together.

Studio Church began as a necessary response to the COVID epidemic. Along the way, we discovered that Studio Church:

  • Provides a unique opportunity to not only experience a worship service but to create something we can share with others
  • Provides an opportunity to experience live, in-person worship if you can’t attend on Sundays
  • Provides an opportunity to worship in a smaller community where it’s easier to get to know everyone (including our Worship Leaders and Teaching Team)
  • Enables us to offer camera-free worship on Sundays (cameras in worship are very distracting to many people)
  • Enables us to create a higher quality online worship experience for those who are unable to attend in person

What to Expect

Most weeks, Studio Church is a small, friendly group of 15-30 people who will be happy to show you around our Studio if you’d like a tour!

When you arrive, simply enter the doors marked “Emmanuel Studios.” We film in Studio A. We offer free coffee and yummy treats during our “cookie cut” (after we record the songs and before we record the message).

At 7:30 pm, our Producer will welcome everyone and take us all step-by-step through the evening.

All of our Worship Services at ECC draw from the best of the old and the new. Over the course of a month, you’ll learn prayers, hymns, and blessings that are centuries old and experience new forms of expression that the Holy Spirit is inspiring in our day.

Our messages are anchored in Scripture and applicable to life. Over the course of a year, we’ll take you on an intentional discipleship journey that includes both topical and expository teaching (from both the Old and New Testaments). We’ll also join our Christian brothers and sisters around the globe who practice the seasons of Advent and Lent.

At Emmanuel, we don’t duck the hard stuff! Don’t be surprised if you visit on a week when we’re pressing into a difficult Bible Passage or addressing a complex issue that’s on people’s minds.

FAQ

Absolutely! Just ask our Producer or any of the volunteers for a good place to sit that will be out of the view of the cameras.

Studio Church is usually 75 – 90 minutes long (including the “cookie cut”)

We do not offer kids programming at Studio Church – it’s past most of their bedtimes!

Over the course of a teaching series, you’ll have the opportunity to sing new songs, vintage hymns, and a few “forgotten favorites” from a couple decades back.

Each week you can count on musical excellence and God-honoring lyrics. You can also count on our worship leaders directing our focus to God rather than drawing attention to themselves.

Glad you asked! There are lots of ways to help with Studio Church. Everything from cameras, to editing, to hospitality, to becoming part of the Worship Band, and more!  After you’ve visited a few times, simply ask one of the people serving in one of the roles you’re interested in. They can introduce you to the Team Lead.

We do our best, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to follow the example of Jesus and the Apostle Paul. Jesus and Paul modeled both expository and topical teaching.

Sometimes we begin with a Book of the Bible or Portion of Scripture and apply it to our situation (i.e. “expository teaching”).

Sometimes we begin with an important question or issue and seek to understand it through the lens of Scripture (i.e. “topical teaching”).

Jesus was the Master Teacher and each and every week we do our best to teach as Jesus taught.  We ask questions, we utilize story-telling, we challenge people to respond, and we anchor everything to the Word of God.

We also apply the principles that we see in the Book of Acts, where Paul uses cultural references as a jumping off point for teaching people about Jesus (Acts 17:22-34).

One of the unique characteristics of Emmanuel’s approach to teaching comes from the fact that our Founding Pastor is a trained educator. Over the course of a year, we take people on a journey that’s aligned with specific discipleship goals. Over the course of a teaching series we often point people to books and online resources that they can use to take a deeper dive. And we challenge our Teaching Team to craft weekly messages with different learning styles in mind.

There’s no official dress code at Studio Church. Most people wear something comfortable that they would wear to casual restaurant or trip to the mall. We want to get to know you. Please be yourself!
