Our Shared Values
If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
–Mark 3:25
Christlikeness: Honor God in all that you do
This value is the foundation for all the others! Jesus was obedient to the Father, embodied the Word, was led by the Spirit, and was full of grace and truth.
Authenticity: Present the real you
We seek to eliminate disconnect between who we present ourselves as and who we actually are.
Humility: Maintain a curious, learning posture
At Emmanuel, we’re always looking for new and better ways to honor God and help people. We view humility as a superpower that unlocks unlimited growth opportunities. We welcome feedback, value coaching, and take personal ownership for our individual development.
Big Church Quality: Bring the wow
When big churches are at their best, they honor God and inspire people through intentionality, excellence, professionalism, resource-sharing, and elevated experiences that delight guests and catch the attention of the surrounding community.
Small Church Feel: Welcome people home
When small churches are at their best, members are known, strangers are welcomed into a family, gatherings don’t feel like a performance, and everyone helps with the dishes.
Teamwork: Plan and play like a championship team
Scripture casts a vision for churches that function like a healthy body. When God’s people are united by a God-given mission and culture, all things are possible! Conversely, a house divided cannot stand. Nothing will undermine our ability to pursue a thriving future like competing agendas, poor conflict-resolution practices, and contrasting beliefs or values.
Respect: Leave people and places better than you found them
One of the most practical ways we can provide a God-honoring witness is to treat all people with dignity and to “leave no trace” other than cleaner surfaces and a God-honoring reputation.
Legacy: Run your race well and pass the baton to those you inspire and equip
At Emmanuel, we avoid the downward “New Person/New Program” cycle by (1) learning from and building on the past (2) building something others will want to build upon and (3) inspiring, supporting, equipping and entrusting the next generation of servant leaders.
To Quote
[Organizations need] a commitment to values and their constant reaffirmation as the human body needs vitamins and minerals. There has to be something “this organization stands for,” or else it degenerates into disorganization, confusion, and paralysis. –Peter Drucker
Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. –Colossians 1:10
